Masa

Shravana Masa Meaning

Shravana is the 5th month of the Hindu lunar calendar, usually falling in July-August during Varsha (monsoon). Important observances include Shravan Somvar, Nag Panchami, Raksha Bandhan and, in the amanta reckoning, Janmashtami. In the amanta system the month ends on Amavasya; in the purnimanta system used in much of North India it ends on Purnima, so Krishna Paksha dates carry the next month's name.
