Masa
Pausha Masa Meaning
Pausha is the 10th month of the Hindu lunar calendar, usually falling in December-January during Hemanta (pre-winter). Important observances include Pausha Putrada Ekadashi and, in most years, Makar Sankranti. In the amanta system the month ends on Amavasya; in the purnimanta system used in much of North India it ends on Purnima, so Krishna Paksha dates carry the next month's name.
In Simple Terms
Pausha Masa is the 10th lunar month, usually December-January. Its exact use depends on the wider panchang context: tithi, nakshatra, yoga, karana, vaara, and local sunrise.
