Rashi
Makara Rashi Meaning
Makara rashi (Capricorn) spans 270° to 300° of the sidereal zodiac. Its symbol is the makara (sea creature), its ruling planet is Saturn (Shani), and it is a earth sign. It covers the last three padas of Uttara Ashadha, Shravana and the first half of Dhanishta. In panchang, the Moon's rashi gives the daily Chandra rashi, and the Sun's entry into Makara is Makara Sankranti.
In Simple Terms
Makara Rashi is Capricorn, the 10th sign of the sidereal zodiac. Its exact use depends on the wider panchang context: tithi, nakshatra, yoga, karana, vaara, and local sunrise.
